The Boston Foundation has an entire department that is dedicated to working closely with our donors to make their philanthropy as effective and fulfilling as possible. Our staff sits down with donors to discuss their ideas and values—and the issues that are most important to them. We identify outstanding nonprofit organizations and programs that are doing just the kind of work they would like to support—and take them on site visits and help them evaluate the effectiveness of their giving.

We also give our donors the opportunity to ‘co-invest’ in effective and timely programs that have been evaluated by our staff—and invite all donors to special briefings on topics of current interest with leaders in the field. Many Boston Foundation donors take advantage of our Understanding Boston series of reports, forums and action agendas addressing the most important issues facing Greater Boston and the region.
