Government and community-based organizations are increasingly using the Internet to provide information about medical care, life-long learning, opportunities for civic and political participation, as well as recreation and entertainment.
How are we doing?
The Current Population Survey supplement on computer and Internet use records information on use of the Internet for various purposes and in different places. In the Boston region, 42% of respondents used the Internet to find government information in 2003, the most recent data available. Also, 21% said they used the Internet for job searches. Most people used the Internet from home or work; however, 13% said they used the Internet at a public library. As shown in the chart, all of these figures were slightly higher in the Boston area than nationally. |
