CHAMPS—Coaches Helping Athletes through Mentoring and Positive Sports—is a sports-based youth development initiative of the Boston Foundation.

CHAMPS operates with the belief that when you give respect, you get respect. CHAMPS’ mission is to bring respect to the playing field by ensuring that every child has access to high quality athletic opportunities—beyond school hours—including qualified and trained sports coaches, equipment and uniforms, and safe, properly-maintained playing fields. CHAMPS also connects professional and collegiate sports programs with youth sports programs through events, providing kids with inspiration, exposure, access, and mentorship opportunities.

To date, CHAMPS has trained more than 3000 coaches touching more than 75,000 youth in Greater Boston. CHAMPS training provides coaches with tools and tips on how to teach our young kids about healthy competition, motivation, conflict resolution and most importantly respect: Respect for teammates, opponents, coaches and officials.
